Grow Mid Missouri, the new entrepreneurial development partnership formed by Moberly Area Community College, Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce and Moberly Area Economic Development hosted a launch event Tuesday night in Moberly with over 50 business and civic leaders in attendance.
“We are very pleased with the support that we have received with this new project”, said Dan Lobina, Director of the Small Business Development & Technology Center on the campus of Moberly Area Community College. “Growing our own new businesses in the region is vital to the economic outlook for our area.”
Mentors, counselors and new entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to meet each other to form alliances to assist in the development of new businesses. The conversations during the event at WC’s Bar & Grill revolved around how start-up businesses can be better served by having multiple resources in one location.
The Grow Mid Missouri partnership recently introduced their new website www.growmidmo.com where individuals interested in starting a new business can receive support. “All the resources someone needs to start a small business is now in one location here in Mid Missouri,” said David Gaines, Vice President at Moberly Area Economic Development. “Combined with the mentors and counselors who have vast business experience we are better able to support those interested in starting a new business.”
The group has plans to host another event in January, 2013 called Startfest where those individuals working to start a new business will have the opportunity to make a presentation to potential investors and financiers.
