Snodgrass walks away with Distinguished Service Award

PRESIDENT OF MOBERLY AREA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, COREY MEHAFFY invited Joe Snodgrass to the stage to receive the 2014 Distinguished Service Award.

Mehaffy said, “Unfortunately we do not have nearly enough time this evening to mention even a fraction of the many things our next recipient has done to assist Randolph County, the City of Moberly, Moberly Parks & Rec, Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation, local educational institutions and hundreds of civic organizations throughout the region. Our recipient’s assistance has been invaluable to these organizations whether providing counsel, construction expertise, saving them time, saving them money or helping to attract new businesses to the area; and Always behind the scenes, never seeking credit or recognition.

Often we hear statements like “he’s an active member of the community” or “she’s involved in the community” to describe patrons in our community; and in this case, I can assure you that those phrases are an understatement.

If you look at our recipient’s LinkedIn professional profile you will see words like construction management, architectural design, project estimation and value engineering used to describe his experiences. Perhaps we could add a few more; altruist, volunteer, philanthropist, contributor, benefactor or humanitarian.

His resume lists a number of community activities like Past President of the Randolph County EXCEL, Past Board member of the United Way, Moberly Friends of the Park, Board Member of the Moberly 4th Street Theater Renovation Project, Committee Member of the City of Moberly Depot Park Project and Member of the Moberly Rotary Club and on January 1, 2015 his resume will need a revision to add Board Member of the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation.

His resume also lists a number of projects that our recipient has been proudly involved in over the years like Orscheln Farm & Home Retail Support Center, Mid-Am Building Supply Offices and Distribution Center, (and the new Mid-Am expansion project) Chariton Valley Telephone Network Operations & Data Center, Chariton Valley Telephone Headquarters Building, Central Christian College of the Bible Pelfrey Hall Addition, CCCB Walton Student Center, Heritage Hills Golf Course Clubhouse and the list goes on and on.

Our recipient is a life-long resident of Moberly who attended the Moberly Public Schools and Moberly Area Community College. Throughout his 35 plus year career, our recipient has been associated in one way or another with the construction industry working with companies like Wick Building Systems, Daniel International, Norfolk Southern Railway, Bryste, Randy Adams Construction, L & J Development and his most recent endeavor with his son Devin at Outline & Associates.

For the countless contributions he makes to the community of Moberly, Randolph County and the MAEDC Region Joe Snodgrass received the 2014 Distinguished Service Award.
