The Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation (MAEDC) Board of Directors endorsed Proposition D at their September board meeting. The announcement follows a similar endorsement by the Northeast Missouri Development Partnership, of which MAEDC is a member.
Proposition D, will incrementally increase the Missouri fuel tax by 10 cents per gallon over the next four years. The measure will appear on the November 2018 ballot. This increase is needed to provide a dedicated funding stream for the Missouri Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol is currently funded from the fuel tax and if approved the revenues currently being used for law enforcement can be redirected to roads and bridges.
The MAEDC Board of Directors recognizes the importance of infrastructure improvements and maintenance in Missouri. Infrastructure helps keep Missouri and the MAEDC region competitive with other States and assists existing employers. MAEDC encourages a “Yes” vote to Proposition D on November 6th, 2018.
