The Mark Twain Solid Waste Management District (MTSWMD) is excited to offer an opportunity for schools to make a lasting environmental impact! As part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and environmental education, we’re providing FREE recycling bins for classrooms.
How to Participate
To be eligible for the program, your school must already have a recycling collection service in place. If not, you can still participate by committing to either:
✔ Signing up for a recycling collection service, OR
✔ Taking recyclables to a local facility on a regular basis.
Applying is simple! Just fill out the Recycling Bin Request Form with your school’s details, including:
✅ School name
✅ Number of bins requested
✅ Delivery address
✅ Current recycling contract information
Email your completed form to Ashley Long at the Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments (along@marktwaincog.com) by April 9, 2025—but don’t wait! Funds are limited, and requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why Get Involved?
♻ Promote Environmental Awareness – Recycling in the classroom teaches students the importance of sustainability and responsible waste management.
📸 Be Part of a Regional Impact – Schools receiving bins will be featured in a regionwide press release, showcasing their commitment to a greener future.
📝 Educational Support – We encourage schools to share how they’re integrating recycling education into their lessons, including lesson plans and student engagement activities.
Each recycling bin comes with signage recognizing that the bins were donated by the Mark Twain Solid Waste Management District and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
